3 DAY TASMAN PENINSULA B&B KAYAKING TOUR

The Tasman Peninsula, joined to Tasmania by only a narrow, sandy neck of land is virtually an island in it’s own right. Largely National Park, the Tasman Peninsula is home to some of Tasmania’s most renowned and spectacular historic sites, wildlife, and native vegetation. With the Tasman Sea to the East and Storm Bay to the West, we encounter spectacular dolerite cliffs, beautiful sandy beaches and numerous sheltered bays, making it an ideal paddling destination. All this only an hours drive from the Hobart. Using the homely yet luxurious Convict Station B&B as our base, we set out to explore the diversity of the Peninsulas’ cultural and natural landscapes.

PROPOSED ITINERARY

The following itinerary should be seen as an approximate guide only and will vary as dictated by the weather and or group ability.

Day 1: Lime Bay Coastal Reserve and Coal Mines Historic Site.

We like to start the day early with pick-ups from Hobart starting at 7:30 am. After gathering the group we’ll drive to the Lime bay coastal reserve. Prior to launching, your guides will run you through a full kayak safety briefing then it’s only a short paddle to the infamous convict coalmines historic site. We’ll pause here for our first gourmet lunch, before a stroll with your guides to explore the fascinating history of the Mines.

From here we paddle north past delicate sandstone cliffs and sandy beaches to Lime bay where our transport awaits. Back at the B&B, it’s time to relax on the veranda or in the lounge by the fire as the sunsets. Dinner: Mussel Boys restaurant

Tasman Peninsula KayakingDay 2: Fortescue Bay and the Candle Stick.

Rise to the smells of the countryside. Breakfast starts at 7:30 am and we’re blessed with an unbeatable combination. A selection of continental and cooked breakfasts prepared from fresh, local ingredients by our skilful hosts. After breakfast, it’s only a short drive to Fortescue bay located in the heart of the Tasman National Park. With favourable weather, we’ll paddle along the cliff edge towards Cape Huoy and the Candle Stick - keeping our eyes pealed for Australian Fur Seals that often reside on the rocks! We’ll have lunch at Canoe Bay before a short stroll to the cliff top to take in the view. Cruising back along the coast, we’ll pause by a semi-submerged shipwreck, and then it’s all eyes homeward as we head back to base. Dinner: Eagle Hawk Neck Cafe

Day 3: Port Arthur and Port Arthur Historic Site.

After breakfast we wave good buy to our home away from home and head for Port Arthur. The morning will be spent exploring the picturesque shores of Port Arthur and soaking up the serenity of the Peninsula.

The Port Arthur Historic site is located right on the waters edge, and we’ll take time to take in the spectacular views and intriguing history from our kayaks. We’ll have our final lunch together on the shores of Port Arthur before returning to Hobart by late afternoon. Trip concludes.

Indulge in the excitement and thrill of a wilderness kayaking adventure from the comfort of luxury accommodation. This trip comes highly recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable multi day kayaking experience. Ideal for couples and suitable for beginner plus.
